Salem Softball Coaches

Deb Littlefield

Deb's an active member of the Northeast Hurricanes organization, contributing at both a board level and in the coaching ranks for several years.  Deb's relevant softball experience includes:

  • 3-year varsity catcher for Roland-Story High School in Story City, IA, Iowa State All-Tournament team selection, Athlete of the Year for HS class
  • Graduate of the United States Coast Guard Academy, serving 10 years active duty
  • 4-year starter in softball at the Coast Guard Academy (catcher, pitcher, and shortstop); 2-year team captain of the USCGA team, named team MVP
  • Ranked 11th on the USCGA's all-time single season ERA record list with 1.49, including one no-hitter
  • Professional expertise in teaching leadership and team skills
  • Has been coaching softball teams since 2005
  • Varsity Head Volleyball Coach at Whittier Tech 2005-2014 (Eagle Tribune Volleyball Coach of the Year, 2013)
  • Varsity Head Softball Coach at Notre Dame HS of Lawrence, 2010-2012
  • Head Coach in the Northeast Hurricanes program since 2009
  • 14U Hurricanes team won the 2015 USSSA Champions Powerade Nationals in Syracuse, NY
  • Long-time certified ASA umpire

Dave Millette

Dave has over 25 years of baseball and coaching experience, including head coaching at Lowell Catholic High twenty years ago. 

Starting out coaching rec ball and running little league programs, Dave quickly moved to the more competitive teams of all-states and states.  He has now been coaching travel softball for years.  

Dave has coached youth teams to countless tournament championships, including NSA States.  His success is directly attributed to the endless hours he is willing to put into developing his players.  

In 2017, Dave coached the Salem 10U team to an undefeated season at the 10U level locally and took them to VA where they placed 5th out of 60 teams at the USSSA World Series. 


Rich Simons

Rich is a multi-year Hurricane coach who is dedicated to building and teaching his teams to be highly competitive. A student of the game, he has many years playing experience, as well as many teams coaching school and town teams. Specifically:

  • 2 years Asst Coach for Woodbury Middle School- champions both years
  • 1 year Asst Coach for Salem NH High School JV team
  • 2 years Asst Coach Northeast Hurricanes 12u and 14u
  • 2 years Head Coach Northeast Hurricanes 14u and 16u Elite 
  • Current 18u Elite Head Coach
  •  ASA certified and CDC Concussion certified. 

Bill Beeley

Bill Beeley  

Bill is a returning Hurricanes coach, a multi-sport athlete in High School that went on to play Division 2 College Football. He will push the players to give their best performance by developing fundamentals, teaching game strategy, all while striving to remain highly competitive.

Softball coaching experience:

2015-2017 Head Coach 8u Salem Jr Blue Devils Babe Ruth All Star tournament teams, Salem Softball Recreation Spring/Fall.

  • 2016 Team qualified for the Babe Ruth World Series

2017 Head Coach 10u Salem Softball Fall Recreation

2018 Assistant Coach 10u Northeast Hurricanes

  • 10u USA Class A Junior Olympic NH State Champions.
  • Qualified for the NSA World Series

Current Head Coach of the 2019 10u Northeast Hurricanes

ACE Level 2, Safe Sport, and Concussion CDC certified.


Kelsey Smith

Kelsey played ASA for 6 years with the New England Diamond Gems as well as  the starting varsity pitcher for Conant High School for four years. She went on to pitch for DII Bentley University for four years. Since then, she has also been the pitching/ assistant coach for ASA teams for the past 4 years.


Tabitha Hebert

Tabitha brings extensive playing and coaching experience to the Hurricanes. Her coaching experience includes:

  • Coached w/ the Merrimack Valley Twisters for 5 years at every level.
  • Pitching/ Hitting Instructor for 15 years.  

Her playing experience includes:

Club: 11 years of travel ball and 5 NSA/Pony national tournaments. 

College:  4 Year UMass Lowell Softball Player

  • 3 Time 1st team All Conference Player 
  • 3 time 1st team  All Region Player
  • 1 time 2nd team All Region
  • 1 time 3rd team All Conference

Post Graduate:  

  • 2 Week Tour in the Netherlands with the American International Softball Team  (collegiate team)  

High School: 4 year Varsity player for Lowell High

Brian Doyle

He's a multi-year coach at the tournament softball level.  Focused on challenging the team while stressing the importance of commitment, teamwork and respect.  Due thru emphasizing the building and teaching the fundamentals required to be a highly competitive team.  

2 years coaching with the Northeast Xtreme Tournament team

1 year coaching within Billerica Fall Softball League. 

Active within both town and Middle Essex Softball.

Bill is a multi-year Hurricane coach and an important part of our training program.  Bill's coaching experience includes:
